I bought a set of shutters a while back and am now ready to assemble.
Does anyone have any pictures of the linkage as it hooks to the shutter.
Thanks

It should be fairly clear from the drawing in the parts catalog. There are 2 control rod brackets. I believe the front one goes in the front generator mounting bracket hole on the block. The rear one goes on the fuel tank support. If the fuel tank support isn't drilled, it needs a 9/32 hole, centered 5 3/8 up from the bottom of the support, 1/2 back from the front edge.

I don't quite understand shutters. It seems to me if your thermostat is working correctly then there should be no need to block the rad. So why did they?

PWL's BN, like many older machines, has no water pump or thermostat. Shutters were the conventional method of manually controlling engine temperature. If you didn't have shutters, a burlap feed bag was commonly tied over the grill.

What tractors had Shutters, Were they made for all? Also the Rod that connects to the Shutter pivot is bent in a configuration that appears to have been for a different tractor, did they all attach through the same place , or were the control rods connected differently for different tractors.

Shutters were commonplace on the older multi-fuel tractors. After gasoline-only engines started becoming more common (say 1940 or so) they started to disappear. The A/B etc. models had shutters only as an option (separate option or part of the distillate package). The attachment was identical on the A/B/BN but shared with no other models. The Super A and C probably had the same shutter assembly on the radiator but had different linkage.
