The original was an IH model H-4.

Can you switch froma distributor to a mag directly or is there a different drive required?? Have an H-4 mag to be checked out.

It is a direct bolt-on. A battery ignition can be installed and timed with a governor gear not properly in time. A magneto requires the governor to be timed correctly. You may find that you need to correct the governor timing. This is the same as with a Cub. The situation has been discussed in the Cub forum and you should be able to find those discussions if you need details.

Do NOT connect the small wire currently on the distributor, coming from the coil, to the magneto. You will instead need to connect the magneto to a grounded switch.
