A BN was donated to our farm show to be sold at our fund raising auction at our fall show. Is the rear wheel width the only difference between a B and a BN ? This one has a single front wheel. I need to check the SN to verify the year.

The only difference between the B and BN is 8 inches of width. This is done by using axles and axle housings that are each 4 inches shorter. Consequently, there are a few other parts that need to be changed to fit the available space: platform, drawbar, cross bar for the swinging drawbar.

Interesting. I picked up a B last fall just before I departed for Florida for the winter. Will be returning to Wisconsin in May and anxious to "play" with my new toy. I wondered if it was easy or even possible to convert a B to a BN and it seems like it would be if you find a donor or at least the right parts. My motivation for doing this would be to save space in storage and if I purchased a trailer to haul it. Less width would be a plus.

It should be a pretty straight forward conversion, you just need to score the components Jim mentioned, above. JP Tractor Salvage might make the pieces you need.

There are trailers out there that a B will fit between the fenders. You may have to limit the tractor to rear tires no bigger than 9.5-24 set to the minimum width. That gets you inside of 74", which works with a lot of trailers. Go wider and the options get more limited.

I hauled a B on a trailer a few years ago. You have to move the rear end into it's narrowest position. My B was 79 inches from outside of the tires, and my trailer was 83 inches between the fenders.
