Here are some more showing how far the sheave and bushing have to hang off the PTO shaft. The manual for the mower says that the bushing will overhang the PTO shaft by ~15/16". I left a 1/8" gap between the spokes of the sheave and the bolt heads on the right angle drive.

The PO had the manual lift assembled wrong with the bracket flipped over so that only two of the bolts would engage with the clutch housing. I reassembled it so that all three can be attached and the whole thing is much more sturdy.

I had to lean the right side axle clamp bolts a little bit in order to get the mounting frame in the right position for the idlers to line up with the sheave. I'll keep an eye on them for any signs of loosening.

I believe those are blind holes. You should be able to remove the 2 shield bolts and pick up a little clearance.

If needed, you should be able to swap the 2 horizontal bolts out for longer ones and add a spacer to each one.

Good call. Even though I had the PTO assembly removed, I didn't even consider that the bolts can be left out. I will do that.

Yes, that was plan B. Your insight is always appreciated. Thanks!

Side bar....why are the rear ends of a B sooooo wide without any adjustment to narrow?

You CAN adjust the rear wheel track just like the Cub by flipping around the rims and wheel centers. But what you're starting out with is pretty wide as it is. My B (set at its narrowest) is wider than my H! I suppose that is why they made the BN as well.

Was the B geared more towards strictly cultivating 2 rows and not intended for other chores?

The B has a 4 speed transmission and, to my knowledge, was intended to be a 2-row general purpose tractor to be used for tasks like cultivating, plowing, wagon towing, as well as shaft & belt work.

I got it all dialed-in and sealed my gas tank with POR-15 after a pinhole weep appeared. Now I just need to wait a month or so for the grass to start growing.

Hah, good catch. It's dust from the pile of oil-dry in front of the mower. With my phone on its wide angle setting and the light on, it really accentuates the dust.
