Farmall Cub

Got a generator with a nut holding the pulley that is so far down in the recessed part of the pulley, I don't have any socket or wrench that can get to it. The sides of the pulley are recessed and come down too close alongside the edge of the nut.

Anyone have suggestions? I'm taking it by the electric shop after work. Perhaps they'll have a suggestion...

I've never removed one, so I have no personal firsthand experience. One suggestion might be an ole time auto electric shop that rebuilds them, they will have a suggestion, I'm sure.

Never removed one. My father-in-law once told me that if someone put it together you can take it apart. Does it need a special thin socket. Good one, keep us posted.

The best bet is an air impact wrench. That how I removed my last one. I also use it to remove the nuts on the hydraulic pump.

I'd agree, but the socket wall thickness is too thick for the space available between the nut and the curved sidewall of the pulley. Looks like I'll have the sacrifice a socket by grinding it down to see if that will work.

I keep an extra set of the cheap Harbor Freight impact sockets just for purposes like that.

I have taken a cheap deep well socket and a 4 1/2 grinder and made it a thin wall socket.

They did a great job!! Can adjust the belt pulley very easily the way it is supposed to be!! I'm a happy camper!! Dusty B
