chocolate pudding anyone?

Postby John *.?-!.* cub owner » Sun May 31, 2015 5:46 pm

Been working on Dad's old H that some members of the forum surprised me with a few years ago. Had several oil leaks plus a radiator leak I have been working on since last August a little at a time. The most severe ones are fixed and now I am after the smaller ones. Removed the pulley shaft to replace it's seal today. What I found inside looked like chocolate pudding, and had the same consistency. A combination of 75 year old transmission oil that had accumulated in the housing along with water from conservation and dust from 75 years of use, gave this result in an area that due to design does not drain back to the reservoir well.

John - When I get into my 1947 H like that I'll bet I'll have the same chocolate pudding.

The Super H I just bought will most likely be in the same state if only the rain could stop for a day so I could pull the oil pan and clean it out. More water came out of the oil pan than oil, but the engine looks to be fine at least from the top of the cylinders. Hopefully its not a rusty mess but could possibly be. I would not eat too much of that pudding lol.

I got ~15 gallons of that out of the rear end of my Super M here last spring.
