I'm starting the slow process of restoring our 1947 Farmall H #265658X1. Because I have to use this tractor all summer it will be a slow process. Anyhow - I wanted to get the post started.
The tractor is solid - except for needing an engine overhaul, brakes and steering tightened up. I've owned the H since the early 1970's - We've never really done anything to it. It's a work horse that will pull my JD 5320 Diesel at 65HP, backwards uphill. I'll get photos of it soon. The air filter unit has been busted for 30 years - with the tube rusted off. Dad clamped a piece of galvanized around it and put a tin can over it. I purchased this replacement filter on ebay for $25, knowing it had an issue with the crankcase breather tube.
For you folks who have a lot of experience you'll like this bit of the repair. I was going to braze the fitting back in - torch in hand, part clamped in place. Hit it with the torch and GUESS WHAT - the whole darn thing is soldered together. Gladly I STOPPED the heat before I did real damage....which I know could have been fixed but just the same
Well here is the 1st painted part.

If it turns out as well as your last Cub project it will look great. Good luck and I look forward to your future posts.

Air Filter - Finished and Ready to Install
I figure I'll restore the original and place it for sale on eBay.

Am I reading that right? As "detailed oriented" (and I sincerely mean that as a compliment) as you are in your restorations shouldn't that bePVF1799 wrote:Air Filter - Finished and Ready to Install

"I figure I'll restore the original and place it back on the H and put the temp one for sale on eBay"?

For the compliment on my work on Rex'48 - that tractor has historical and sentimental memories from the farm. The H has been there for a while but was not purchased by Dad as our 1st tractor since the 1929 Regular came to the farm. Now with that being said - when I see how bad the original one is - I may change my mind.

Project CANCELLED.
After spending money and time on the air-filter, battery box and other parts - Dad informed me he's given the H to my brother - Aggrieved! Thats all I can say - w/o getting banned from the forum.
