I have a generator (6volt) off of a 46 H, I would like to test, by belting it to an small electric motor which direction do I need to turn the generator pulley? Clockwise or Counterclockwise . Thanks Dave.

Engine turns clockwise when viewed from the front. This means that the generator pulley, when viewed from the front, would also spin clockwise (that would be counter-clockwise when viewed from behind the generator).

You need to ground the F terminal, and I suggest a battery for a load, without the load, the voltage can go over 35 volts, which is hard on the generator, it is not intended to operate at that kind of voltage.

Easier test. See if the generator will "motorize". If the generator operates as a motor, it will produce electricity.

I don't know if you can motor a 3 brush generator, being one of the brushes are grounded? If you can, How do you motor test it. Thanks Dave F.
