Tractor Mounted H Buzz Saw

Postby Brandon Webb » Mon Apr 03, 2023 10:46 am

Did Mott or anyone make a tractor mounted buzz saw? I’ve seen some front mounted but most were Sears or some universal type. Thanks

A neighbor that I visited has a '47 FCUB with a factory mounted PTO driven buzz saw with paperwork to indicate that it was delivered to the original owner with the IH buzz saw mounted. He also has a IH sales brochure. The saw blade still has the rubber protective coating on the teeth. He told me he was a member of the club http://antiquefarmpowerclub.biz which is hosting the IHC chapter 11 show on June 8-10, 2023 and plans to have the tractor and buzz saw at that show.

Dad had one mounted on an H. However it was made by a neighbor using an arbor from an old stationary saw. Since it takes a crew of three (at least) and hours of readying the logs it can be easier to just cut the firewood in place using a chain saw. Are you looking for one to use, as a collector or just wondering if IH ever made one? I really can't help with an answer your question. Vern

Over the years, I’ve seen several front mounted saws on various makes of tractors, including the H, but I don’t know who made them. I once had a WD allis charmers with one on it but it kinda looked home made.

I had one on an Oliver 70 and one on a wc allis at one time. --- they were factory made saws but have no idea what brand they were.
