there is a farmall experimental H going for auction by me. Is there anything special about it? it does have XP on the serial number tag.

I've never heard of an H 'XP'. There is some discussion on the topic here:

I found the listing. That sure does look like "XP" stamped on the tag. Hmm....

It looks to me like if someone were to wipe the dirt and grease off, it would clearly be "X1", which simply means it has a gasoline engine.

Jim, that’s it. I couldn’t figure how to post the pic or link. After looking at the pic closer, it could be X1 for gasoline as what the yesterday’s tractor post says

By the way, experimental tractors at IH would typically have a totally different serial number number and plate that would make it obvious, or they would have an additional metal tag that shows something like a property number and which department it belonged to. Often, the former would show up on a complete experimental build, the latter if a production tractor was being used to test a specific modification. (I am not aware of any hardfast rule.)

Either way, if the auction is close to you and it is convenient, it might be worth going in person to get a closer look (with a flashlight and a rag).

Thanks. I am planning on going. What’s an h worth? It looks in good condition, good tires plus it has a cab.

Around here, that tractor would go for $800 to $1000. Assuming it ran well.
