Farmall Cub

Spent a great day working in the barn and the barnyard and decided to call it quits. After dinner I punched in different phrases in google and found this.



My Uncle Art, Dad's brother, owned Harrison Farm Equipment from sometime in the 40's until the early to 70's. His name is at the bottom as the salesman. Naturally, Dad bought all his equipment from Art.

Just thought somebody would be interested in seeing what the "H" sold for back then. Phone numbers sure have changed since then.

So roughly a $900, give or take a few, between a $500+ Cub and the H. Very cool to see.

That's pretty neat! I was 6 days old when that transaction took place. My dad bought a new H and M along about that time. I doubt the H was quite that well equipped (I don't remember fenders or fancy seat) but the M came equipped with a mounted picker. It seems cheap now but in those days, that was a lot of money.

did a calculation of the cost of the tractor from then to now. 1948 to 2010
little over $17K todays rate
$1.00 = $9.23 with inflation
I don't think you could get a tractor for that today
or that for the H

Just think of the excitement at the Kerr farm when it arrived. I wonder if they were the hide it in the barn so nobody knows we purchased a new tractor or let's show it off to all of the neighbors kind of people?

Roy Kimpel and his brother Sam were the local IH dealers in town. I remember before Roy passed he went to an auction and bought the first H they had sold. It had originally been sold to their father.

According to the forum where I found this, it is a photo of a copy of the original. The H supposedly was traded in a couple years ago to a Ford dealer near here by the second owner and Mr Kerr bought it back. I am going to see where Mr Kerr lives and hopefully talk to him and ask for a copy of the reciept. He has to be in his eighties by now and he may be able to give some insight to more info about my Dad and Uncle.

I'm going to start digging for any sales documents for my grandpa's H parked in our barn.

Gee, I was born 13years 10 months after that was sold.
