IH 2404 loboy?

Postby technova » Tue Jul 25, 2006 8:31 am

Does anyone know anything about an IH 2404 loboy?
There is one for sale locally, I want something a little heavier than my Cub and want a 3pt. (not selling the Cub, maybe the 154)
I searched the web and can't find much info.
Does it have 540 standard PTO?
Is it commom enough to get parts for.
What's the approx value, is it a $2000 tractor or a $5000 one?

The 2404 was the IH industrial version of the IH/Farmall 404. It is a great old tractor, and you should not have a problem getting parts, although it is a 1960s tractor, so you need to keep that in mind. The lo-boy version was pretty popular with highway departments, because the wide/low profile made it nice for mowing roadways and ditches. It should have a standard 540rpm PTO, and I think they were rated around 40hp, but I cannot remember if they are gas or diesel.

I saw a 404 with a loader sell for $3500, so, depending on the condition and attachments, you are looking at a $1500 to $4000 tractor. Sorry to not be more specific, but a big part of used tractor prices depends on location and condition.

Greg:

Just so you know, this particular thread has been moved to this forum because this is where it actually belongs. The original forum that you posted to is primarily for Cub, Cub Lo-Boy and Numbered Series Cubs. The Cub Cadets have their own forum and all other Farmall's, IH and Case tractors have this particular forum.

The first post was moved by another mod, but I moved this one.

In a bit, I will delete the original thread as it is a dupe.. if that is ok by you.

I just Googles International Harvester 2404 specifically and found that Manuals are available..

International Harvester Tractor Manuals Master List, it is available on AntiqueTractors.com

International Harvester 2404 Ind- Parts Manual
International Harvester 2404 Ind- Operators Manual
International Harvester 2404 Ind, Backhoe Only- Parts Manual

However does not indicate Lo-Boy.. the IH 2400 has both a Diesel and a Gas Lo-boy though.

Checking Binder now..

I have limited experience in this particular forum so I also added it in the Cub forum where I always get good responses.
Some of the Cub guys know their Red pretty well I thought they may know of the 2404.
At least I kept the mods earning their money ;)

Thanks for the replys, I'll do some more looking under 404 on the web.
