half tracks for a 300

Postby jostev » Wed Jul 05, 2006 8:28 pm

i think i am getting a set of half tracks that are complete for a 300 for only 100 bucks, and I was wonderingn if they will fit the H :?: or with modifications, or will they just plain old NOT fit :?: i guess if they won't fit i could always sell them and make a bit of money off of them...

Thanks for any help

Johnny

Can't see why they wouldn't. Same size tires. I think its a good gamble.

Johnny, About a year or two ago there was a discussion about the half-track for the Cub. I made several phone calls and finally ended up talking to a guy in Texas who had most of the remaining stock. He still has tread material, but it was pretty pricey. I'd have to dig around and see If I still have his name and number. Let me know if you find you need more info.

There was a set on an M at last years RPRU, which generated some discussion. One of the plroblems was the wheels comign out of them, especially when backign up. they siad tires that were half or more worn worked best.

I have some pictures of the suspension, etc, I cna email you if you wish.

Thanks Bob and John, if they are in really bad shape, I don't htink i will use them, probably just sit in the backyard...

John, I did get some pics at RPRU this year of an M with them... but if you don't mind sending them, i would appreciate it.

my tires are like new, except for major weather cracking, but I won't use them too much, just to go to a couple local shows, and maybe driving in the winter for fun 8)

Thanks

Johnny

I had a set about 15 years ago on my H I ran them like tire chains. The only problem was that I could not keep the front end down. I used them in the woods to pull tree tops out. And they worked great for that. Specially if there were tree roots for them to catch on when you found a real wet hole . I would take them in a sec. Great for snow also.

cool, glad to hear about someone using them and stuff...

yeah, the guy we bought them also said that the perosn he bought them from used them like that too 8)

now i have a big problem tho, he said he wanted to put them on his 300 or 350UTILITY  i never even thought to ask if they came off of a utility or a regular "row crop" but I think they look to be from a row crop, so I will have to see, if not, I do know where there is another set with pads that are worn out almost, but i could probably put the sets together...

Thanks

Johnny

Get what you can and save it. There's a guy here in town that has a set on an H. He put them on but I have never seen him drive it. I also saw that one at redpower, it was pretty cool. I'd just be afraid of breaking one of them, and not having a replacement. If you find parts save them, you may need them in the future. Brandon.

yeah, i am holding on to them, but i think i might try and rig them one of the C's cause the pads are probably long enough to go around that tire, not the H's cause i'm missing so many... i'm hoping some day (soon) i will find a complete set, or a partial set to make mine complete, but who knows i guess..
