Over the weekend I made an air intake tube that goes from the air cleaner to the carb. The owner looked everywhere in his shop and couldn't find the original. also installed the fuel line, water temp gauge, and choke cable. Today I removed all of the broken bolts and screws from the hood and dash mounting points.

Made a replacement nut for the dash mounting screws and welded it on the rear hood section. Ground the welds on the air tube and got it primed.

Got most of the sheet metal back on, just need screws for the dash. The white corrugated engine side covers that I was given were not for this tractor. They are too long like they are from a 460/560 model. The tractor came with an extra seat base that I can shorten up to make a battery box which will be one of the last things I need to do to this tractor.

Got the battery box pretty much done. Just need to make the battery hold down clamp. I think the spare battery he gave me to use on this tractor is big enough. If nothing else it will work for more traction.

Picked up the fenders and got them installed. I tried to start it with the supplied battery and only get a click. I checked it with a VM and it was reading 10.4v. When I hit the key it dropped to 4.5v. I'll try charging it overnight, but I think this battery is toast.

I was asked if I could mount up a different seat on the 340 since the original was nothing but seat springs with no padding. The owner had this seat already and didn't want to spend the money on a new reproduction. I was able to make an angle iron bracket and weld it on to the original frame to make things work. I also cut 2" out of the height of the battery box to make more clearance between the seat and battery.

Shot some Rustoleum primer on the seat frame and installed it back on the tractor. A few more small details and its ready to go back to the owner.

I think this is the last detail I needed to finish up. Its the upper link for the 3-point hitch adapter. It was rusted solid, but after roasting it 3 times, hammering it on an anvil, it finally loosened up. I got the threads cleaned up and greased so its working good now. I didn't know if I was going to save this one.

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but I will anyway. Someone several weeks ago wanted to know how to adapt a 2 point fast hitch to a 3 point. This 340 has the factory 3 point adaptation. I actually had a 340 with this setup. In lot of ways, it is better than a conventional 3 point. Very beefy and strong.
