New Member Saying Hello with a 230.

Postby oldredtractor230 » Tue Sep 01, 2015 9:34 am

I wanted to tell everyone hello! I just joined the forum after I received my grandfathers 230. I am looking forward to gaining all the knowledge I can about the 230. Currently, I just got the 230 started after years of just sitting with a new battery, fresh gas, cleaned fuel sediment bowl, and putting air in the tires. I have been able to ride up and down my driveway and field (I live in the country). I have really enjoyed getting to ride on the tractor and meeting the member here.

Welcome , I had a 230 for several years plowed a lot of snow with it. My neighbor bought it . It was a fine tractor.

I started out with nothing and now I only have half of that left !

Welcome!

Lots of folks with plenty of experience here...

I have 2 "C's" - a '49 and a '50... the '49 has a "Super C" engine
I have two "Super C's" - a '53 with a "fast hitch" like yours, and a '51 with a "404" Engine (C-135)
Also have a 404 utility with a loader

Enjoy your tractor! If you mount a "carry all" on the back you'll find yourself using it for all kinds of things.
A "boom pole" is also very handy ; it's like a small crane.

Thanks Guys! LincTex I have now been looking at a "carry all" and trying out how to make one because I will need on of those before this is done.

Once you make/obtain the two pieces that slide into the "fast hitch", it's a pretty easy fab from then on.

Thanks for the pictures. I am looking forward to having a "carry all". I love just starting the tractor and hearing it run. It will be a bonus when I can carry things with it!

I know the feeling; I have often done the same.

What muffler do you have on it?
Some have the correct "tone" -- others, not so much.....

The only markings on the muffler are "IV 86" and "21039". I did not see a maker on the muffler.

21039 is a Walker/Dynomax muffler.
If you look down inside and see actual "holes" in the pipe and a baffle in the middle, it's one of the older ones and is a GOOD one.
Likely it is, because it's actually stamped with "21039" on it.

I think the line was discontinued recently, though ..... people have been reporting buying a Walker but getting a Stanley with a walker sticker on the box. These are straight through - you can see all the way down into the manifold, and they have "louvers" punched into the flow stream. I don't like how these sound at all. The Stanley's have always been "lower" grade".
