intro and question

Postby khazyari » Mon Aug 31, 2015 5:31 pm

HI, new to the forum Have a 200 that will not do anything, it had sparked at battery last couple times started it and now after running it for about an hour it is silent. doesn't even try to do anything when try to start it, can't pull start either so thinking might be the starter switch? Any suggestions on how to test this theory? I am going to look at the pdf manual for the super c as understand it is almost the same to see if can figure something out. Suggestions to this completely new to trying to keep a tractor running person would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all

This could be something VERY simple, like dirty battery terminals.

What is the voltage at the battery right now, checked with a volt meter?

Did it quit when you hit a bump?

Was it "missing" before it quit?

How old is the battery?

I doubt the starter switch has anything to do with it.

If you can't even pull start it, you most likely have a dead battery, and a charging system that does nothing.

Put a battery charger on it overnight. If it starts right up, you will know your switch is just fine, and your charging system isn't working.

Sounds like charging system, Alternator or starter. Put a charger on over night to help your battery. The charging system is very simple on these tractors. Good luck

Welcome, I've never worked on a 200 before. Is it a battery or magneto ignition? Poor connection from a battery, especially on a battery ignition system will cause your symptoms. Also check to make sure your alt/gen is charging the battery.
