High RPM C

Postby Hickup » Fri Oct 10, 2008 7:09 pm

Its been a while but I'm back to the toys.... Finally got my c running. I drove it around and I couldn't get the throtle up. Now I cant get it to stop from over idleing. I push and pull the idle lever and it doesnt budge. I end up shutting it down so I don't hurt the engine. Whats up? I could use some help... Thanks

Sounds like the governor or linkage is sticking. I'd start by checking all the linkage for movement and look for things like a broken spring etc.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, you've got an electrical problem.

I think I would spend some time studying a manual or technical guide on the the governor. High speed RPM and idle are both critical settings on the governor, not the carb. Good luck.

Well, I'm back again!!!! I miss this site and playing with my toys. Thanks for the advise Bigdog. I did check every likage. I finally got it back. I rebuilt the carb AGAIN.... That was the problem for the high idle. The float wasnt slowing the gas down. But now its great. Looking forward to reading and helping everyone I can.

Marc
