C, Super C Questions

Folks,

My neighbor has both a C and a Super C, both of which need the transmission gear lube (with plenty of accumulated water) changed. My questions:

1. Is the transmission and differential all one for lubrication purposes (like the Cub)?
2. What is the capacity?

Thanks for your help.

Bill

yes, the transmission/diffs are all one, 4 3/4 quarts without PTO and belt pulley, 5 gallons with PTO and belt pulley... there's a check/level plug on the right above the drawbar bracket to make sure...

good luck

Johnny,

Did you mean 5 quarts instead of 5 gallons? Thanks.

Johnny,

Changed the gear lube today. Drained out almost 5 gallons of thick butterscotch colored mixture of water and oil. It has been a lot of time since the tranny has been drained. Used a full 5 gallon can of gear oil to fill. Got to do the other C and then the Cub.

Thanks for your help.

Okay everyone can not change their gear oil all at once. That will drive the price of gas up another $2 a gallon. Those C's and H's hold quite a bit. I have a couple of A's and B's that need done as well as a H.

Yeah... 3 1/2 PINTS of gear lube in the tranny (with or without PTO) and a couple in the steering box and you are good to go!!!
