Rear Axles leaking

Hi all,

I have a 1951 Super C. It leaks grease where the rear axles go into the housing on both left & right sides. I see that there are 4 bolts that hold what looks like a seal retainer. For those of you that have had this problem, is there in fact some type of seal here, and I'm guessing it is a pretty simple job to replace them?

Thanks!
KT

If it's built like the cub and A, you need to press the bearings off the axle, to change the seals. Ed

Here is the parts breakdown. You can go to: http://www.caseih.com/parts/parts.aspx?navid=123&RL=ENNA and see the parts list. Click on "Click here to begin your search." on the lower left side of the page and then enter "Super C' under model.

If the old seal wore into the axle. When i change seals(any type) I don't hit in the new seal to were the old seal was. I keep them a tad shallow so they have a new surface to seal on rather than were its worn from the old seal. I do this on crankseals too, any type of seal were there is a worn spot(ring). You can adjust were the seal rides by installing it in a different position.
