Starts easy and 12 volt batteries are much better. there are people that will tell you that a 6 volt system is just as good, but believe me if you are going to use it change it over.
Even used the same belt

and want have to get the hired help to give ya a push

What mods as far as mounting brackets did you have to make?

I agree totally. Six will start it, but 12 is so much better. If someone would make a correct looking 12 generator(for show purposes) that would be the greatest thing in the world.

I'm surprised somr of the older airctaft generators or car generatoes will not work somehow. They look mostly right!

A friend told me the other day that someone is making a 12 volt one-wire alternator in old 6 volt generator cases. Swears he saw one on a tractor at the show in Elnora, Indiana last weekend. But he can't tell me who makes it, where to get it, who to contact, or anything else. Anyone else ever heard of such an animal as this? If something like this is available for less than a hundred bucks, someone ship me about three of them!!!

It was fairly easy, drill out the front hole on the original bracket to 3/8s and heat and bend the top bracket right below where the adj. slot is about 30 degrees [ you can see this in one of the pics. the alt goes in front of the bottom bracket. 3/4 x 1/4 fat plate can be bent and drilled to bolt from the back of the alt. to the back hole in the bottom bracket. will try to take some more pics Sunday.

I agree, 12 volts is great, I put an extra set of lights to put on, and I can buy cheapos, and not worry about tryint to find 6 v bulbs... i have a loader on mine, and I plow during the winter, so for the cold starting and long running time with the lights, I can get a nice and bright area light up  by the looks we used the same alternator 8)

festus, a friend of mine does that I think, he takes apart 6v gens and rebuilds them to 12v....

Nice looking "C" but look out kitty...... I would paint the alternator farmall red thats what i plan on doing.

I like the 12volts too it brings up the battery right away you can see the amp meter go down. If the PO rotated the alternator's two piece body the wire connection on the 3 wire alternator could of saved him from cutting out the F cubs hood. The alternator is just about hidden from view once i do that and repair the hood and add a 1" shorter belt.

Why people who cut meat try to butcher 101 a f cub i'll never know...

You can add welders to the list. I would have prefered that the previous owner of my snow plow not had a welder.
