230 oil pan / oil pump

Postby Dave F. » Wed Feb 14, 2024 8:07 am

I finally got my oil pan gaskets, Drop oil pan yes a fair amount of sludge in bottom of pan & on oil pump pickup screen . Have screen soaking in kerosene. Do I need to prime the oil pump? If so how? And what gasket sealer do you all recommend for the pan gasket? Thanks Dave

I use Indian Head Shellac on the pan gasket. Make sure the flange is perfectly flat.

No, since the pump sets in the oil, you will not need to prime it.
