Fast hitch sickle mower parts?

Postby DonMountain » Sat Jun 24, 2023 9:19 am

I have a fast hitch sickle bar mower for my 1954 Super C that I haven’t used in 10 years that I would like to restore and use again. Are parts still available for these? And where might I order them from?

Depends on which parts you need. If they are routine replacement items like knives, guards, etc., they are available at Tractor Supply and most farm stores. Other parts may be available used from JP Tractor Parts or on The Vine here. All IH cutter bars use the same parts.

I just need the wear parts like the knives and guards plus the wooden pitman. The last time I bought these parts was from an Orschlen store maybe 20 years ago. But they were all sold to Tractor Supply in Missouri and the local one doesn't carry any of these sorts of parts.

I have a manual for the 2C-F21 sickle bar mower that I have, but it doesn't have part numbers in it. Anyway, the wooden pitman arm has a piece broken out of the center of it, thanks to a cow getting into my equipment storage building and stepping on it. And the center piece getting missing somewhere over the years. I have tried setting the sickle cutting bar at its mid-position, and the shaft mounted pulley on the other end in roughly its mid-position, and measured the pitman length as about 36" overall length. In looking for sources on the web I have found a IH pitman that fits this mower at 35-11/16" in length. I have all the woodworking equipment to make one of these wooden pitmans, but I would like to actually get the real length of one. Does anyone here actually have a 2C-F21 sickle bar mower with an intact wooden pitman arm that they could measure the overall length of for me? I would appreciate that dimension. I have the two ends that I can copy all the holes and slots from to make a new one.

Thanks, Don
