Rear main oil seal

Postby 2wheelsadam » Thu Nov 08, 2018 11:21 am

So I will be putting new clutch in my super c. My first thought is well while I’m in there I should put a rear main oil seal in it. Does not seem to be dripping. Or should I just leave it alone. I’m not familiar with felt seals. I have read where they leak worse when your done. What’s everyone think?

If it isn't broke, don't fix it.

Based upon my experience. When I replace a non-leaking seal, the new one always leaks!

I rebuilt one of those engines last year, the rear seal was several pieces of felt if I remember correctly, I would leave it alone if its ok
