Farmall 140 help. Engine missing

I have a farm all that I can not get running right. It is missing. Starts right up and idles decent most of the time, even with just easing the throttle open a little like halfway or third of the way open it will run descent but if you gas it up, it will run but miss bad and the governor will kick it to keep it running and it will just keep going like that. The coil is getting really hot. This tractor sat foa couple years in a barn and ran good when it was parked. I have replaced the coil and the distributor. Along with the plugs, plug wires, distributor cap, points and condenser. Also replaced the carb and the catch bowl on tank. The tank is clean and it is getting plenty of gas going to the carb. Has a new battery and just today replaced the intake manifold gasket.
Anyone have any ideas. Maybe someone has had this problem. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I am not sure what to do next.

Compression good. Then check ignition timing and ignition advance.

Doing compression check tonight. Got two of these tractors about the same time and both have been in barns for a few years, I got one running so it is pretty simple to swap parts. I think I have the distributor turned right so the ignition trimming should be fine. I hope. I got another coil and point set last night but I am sure it won't help. I think it is something electric. It was original 6 volt and was converted.

The conversion to 12 volt electrical system requires a change at or the coil. You need to drop the voltage through the coil to 6 to 9 volts at the points.

You either need a ballast resistor in line with the coil, or a 12 volt coil with internal resistor.

I bought a new resistor just in case the old one didn't work and the didn't help. The resistor was right behind the alternator. I didn't get the compression test done yesterday, hopefully the guy brings the tester today.

got it running last night. It was the distributor. The one on it was bad and the replacement one I bought was bad. Put a third one on it off aanother 140 I have and she works. Will be selling two of the 140s now. Thanks for the advice Eugene.

Why not repair the bad distributors?

Check to see if the advance mechanism is working. Typically the advance is not lubricated during routine maintenance and freezes up. Solvent and lubrication usually solves the problem.
