picking up a 57 130 for the farm i work on today. it has been sitting for better than 7 years. i spent a couple hours getting it running yesterday and going to drive it home later this morning.

the float in the carb was sunk and i had to do a red neck rebuild so i am going to want to replace it. the carb kits i am seeing dont come with a new float. are they available or will i need to buy a new carb? are new/reman carbs available?

this is going to be a work horse on the farm. looking for recommendations of what i need to check real good before putting it in hard service.

thanks for any help or insight

Unless there is something seriously wrong with the carb, I would doubt that you need a new one. The first step is to identify the make and model of the carb. McDonald's Carburetors has a good selection of floats. A good cleaning, float replacement and new gasket may be all you need. Google Farmall 130 on eBay.

Unless you have the complete wrong carb, or the carb is missing, or the carb is smashed beyond repair, reman/new carbs are for suckers. They're usually as bad or worse than the one you already have, because they were tossed around, kicked, rolled, shaken, punched, and dropped during shipment.

New floats are available for most carburetors. Sometimes on ebay, sometimes on one of the many tractor parts sites on the web, sometimes at your local caseIH dealer.

I have never seen a carb kit that included a float, since they rarely need replaced, but any place that sells the kits can usually get you a new float.

thanks guys, maybe i will just put a kit in it.

does anyone know where i can find an online service manual that i can download for the 130?

right now i am wanting to change the oil in the trans. i can see a fill hole and a drain hole but i am not finding any level indicator. how do i determine and get the proper oil level in the trans? what is the recommended oil for the trans? the trans is pretty noisy, is this common or signs of a big problem coming?

thanks

You can do a Google search and see what you come up with or go to Binder Books, JenSales or similar site and order one.

Drill down in the first manual link above for a Super A owners manual. I'm guessing what you seek for the 130 hadn't changed since the SA.
