Farmall Cub

I've never seen these brackets before on a Farmall, and the reason I am curious is because they look to be factory made for something particular, whether it was IH or another aftermarket company. The first one is on/above the gas tank. The second one on the fender looks like a bracket similar to the ones on the SMV sign that goes on the back. Are these factory and for a specific purpose, or an owner creation??

Chase i have no Clue what those were used for i was thinking maybe a SMV Flag on the back but then again maybe something else iv never seen anything like that!

My guess for the bracket above the tank is for a radio. I agree on the other as a mount for a SMV sign.

I dont think it is factory, ours it on the back for the SMV sign, and is was on it when bought in 1977

OK, you guys have puzzled over it long enough. How would you mount a safety light if you were missing bracket reference number 3?

TC 37 F is a cub manual not a 140 manual

Well if the 140 manual had been online where I could have conveniently pointed at the exact same parts, I would have used it instead.

Odd a Radio mount on top of the Touch Control bolted on top maybe?
the Fire extinguisher would of been mounted or strapped under the Seat.
More likely the 79 had a aftermarket AM Radio mounted on it iv seen a 62 from Alabama like that with a Retro fitted IH Radio from a 706/806 Tractor from its fender!

Those brackets are pretty much universal for SMV emblems and such. I can think of three different machines we have that have those brackets somewhere....

Do you know any of the history of the tractor? Whatever mounted above the gas tank had four holes. To me the way it is bent and bolted to the top of the TC housing makes me think it is homemade. First thought was a radio as others have said but I think most didn't have a mounting bracket that big.

Thanks everyone for the replies. I realize that the bracket on the fender is a "common" bracket for the SMV sign, and yes this tractor has the factory "arm" for the SMV sign coming out behind the seat to the rear. The reason I had an idea that both brackets were original, is because they both have red paint on them and both have the same patina as the tractor. The only history I know of the tractor is from what the daughter of the man that owned it told me. He bought it new in 1979 to cultivate his small garden with. It came with a fast hitch originally and he didn't have a use for it so it removed it when it was delivered and put his cultivators on it without the hitch. The hitch (parts he removed) along with a few other odds and ends not attached to the tractor were scrapped several years ago when the wife needed some extra money to maintain her home. The wife just passed away about 4 months ago, and the man that owned it passed away after only 3 years after buying the tractor. The tractor sat in a closed building for about the last 15 years, and before that it was stored in a lean-to shed on the side of the building from the time it was new. The reason it was moved 15 years ago is becuase the daughter wanted to take it for a drive in the local christmas parade. The daughter also mentioned that it was only used for while her dad was still alive for the small family garden, and noone else had used it throughout the years until the Christmas parade that one time. You can tell it wasn't used very much, and it is all original down to the original oil filter (don't worry, already changed that) and plug wires! He did have other tractors in the building that I could see and could tell from the way the daughter talked. Maybe he had plans for the tractor to be used with something else and had that bracket installed for a radio?? IDK. It just looked to be as of the same patina and looked pretty nice for the application, so I thought it was factory (or aftermarket factory). Could the bracket on the fender be for the SMV sign when not in use on the highway??
