What size battery for a 140 12 volt?

Postby David C » Sat Feb 09, 2013 11:10 am

Gonna go purchase a battery for the 140 today and I cant find the "Group size" for it on the net. Local auto parts places give you the ol' "Deer in the headlight look"

Its a 77 model with 12 volt system. I kinda leaning towards group 26.

Thanks David C

David, for what it worth, I have been using the cheaper ($24) lawn and garden batteries in all my cubs. They work great. Perhaps with the 140 you might want the ones with more cold cranking amps.

I know it is not original, but work great and are much cheaper.

I use 26R in my 12V Cub. I think the 26 and 26R are mirror images of each other, as far as terminal location is concerned.

Yep. Group 26. I'd go ahead and go with what the IH engineers meant for it to use. Terminal location really doesn't matter as most tractors by now have had the cables moved around
