SA Remove Rear Wheel

Postby ajhbike » Sun Feb 11, 2018 6:09 pm

I want to remove the rear wheels for scraping and painting and the SA is higher than my jack. Can I use the draw bar the raise it an inch and then put some jack stands under the back end?

I would use wood cribbing, as opposed to jack stands.

Yes, you should be able to. Make sure all bolts are secure and tight.

I only need to raise it a bit to get the support under the axle. Do I need to put wedges on the front ?

Always. It'll get squirrely once you start lifting it if you don't.

If you put wedges in before jacking, the wedges are trying to fight your lifting one side at a time. I always install them once it is jacked up where I want it.
If you are not part of the solution,
you are part of the problem!!!

Update, hot the first wheel off by having up on the draw bar and putting wood cribbing under it. Removed the wheel and for security I put a jack stand on the wheel hub. I was telling Mike, the wheel feel over with write a thud. I could not stand it up. I figured everybody was lying about the weight of the wheel weights. Of course they weren't carriage bolts. Hooked up the boom to the super c and hoisted it up and removed the weight. Put it down to maneuver it for painting and figured out the tire was liquid filled. Ugh. I am not fooling around with that stuff since it isn't my tractor....so i will clearly get a work out putting it back on and doing the other one....that SC boom sure comes in handy.
