Super A spark Plugs

Postby Big Mike » Wed Jan 31, 2018 11:59 am

OK everyone.....time for another of my stupid questions. I've tried removing the old plugs from the Super A head and found that I don't have a socket that will fit in there. They aren't 13/16" and appear to be 7/8, 15/16, or maybe even 1". Since it appears that I'm going to have to grind down the OD of a socket to get them out can anyone tell me which socket I'll need to ruin? Thanks in advance

7/8 , try to find the thin wall socket, if possible, it's a tight fit in there.

Agree with Don, a 7/8". But I used a Craftsman deep socket and don't recall having any trouble with clearance.

Try one before grinding it down.

My regular 7/8" fit fine, too.

I agree. Impact sockets are thicker and won't fit but my other 7/8 sockets (craftsman, no-name, and SK) all fit. Make sure it is a thin-wall, deep-well socket.

When you replace the plug try NGK AB-6 good plugs and the head is 13/16 which provides room for a whatever socket you pickup off the bench

Thanks, my new plugs are in fact NGK and are 13/16". I dug through all my sockets and did actually locate a thin wall 7/8" that would remove the old plugs. I'm now about to install the new sleeves and begin re assembly. Thanks for your help.
