Farmall 140 PTO Repair

Postby Heidelburg » Sat Jul 01, 2017 9:20 pm

Hello All,

I have just purchased a 1966 model Farmall 140 and the PTO output shaft bearing really needs replacing. I plan on replacing the input shaft bearing and seal while I am in there.

From looking at the breakdown of the parts book it looks to be a fairly straight forward repair but ya'll know that can be deceiving.

I would like to ask the advice of this group if this repair really is straight forward? Are there any helpful hints, special tools, cautions or anything I need to watch for when making this bearing replacement? Will I need a press to press out the bearings? Obviously I have never seen the inside of this PTO before.

I have purchased both output shaft bearings and seal, the PTO input shaft bearing and seal and a gasket kit? Will there be any other items needed if the problem is just the output bearings?

I really appreciate any feedback. Thank you.
