nedd help with 1950 farmall super a governer
hi guys i have a 1950 farmall super a and was using it and all of a sudden i lost all speed control and will now over rev if i try to start it i know the throttle bar will turn the govener arm not sure if it turns the shaft for the governor what else should i check thanks thad

Check the linkage between the governor and the carburetor. See if you can push it forward to slow the engine down. If the linkage looks OK but pushing it doesn't slow it down, check the carburetor itself for 1) loose arm on the throttle shaft, 2) throttle plate fell off the shaft.

Check on what Jim said. If that all checks out, I would bet on the thrust bearing in the governor. Happened to me. Depending on the condition inside the governor, might as well replace the springs while you're in there.
