Anyone know how big a job it is to switch a Farmall 100 steering gearbox out? Is it easier to switch the entire front end?
(100 parts tractor available with good steering gearbox) Thanks

I would say that if your spare front end is in as good or better shape than than your original and the steering box is loads better, probably easier to just make the swap.
Will you be bring the steering rod with it?

Do you have a service manual? You will likely need to remove the rad. Manual should guide you.

If it is just loose steering I would swap the guts out. All you would have to do is remove axle, bottom half of the steering box, then remove the sector shaft (three bolts.) Then replace the two bushings and grease seals (not hard and might as well since it's apart) swap the steering wheel shaft and you're done. The upper casting is a pretty big piece and you would have to remove the radiator.

I suppose you could swap the front end out and rebuild the the original, and still have use of the tractor.
I just remember when I did my steering box, the parts add up in price, and that steering arm can be a bear to remove, took me 5 days and a lot of tools.
