lost carb part!! UPDATE

Postby cub.bub » Mon Oct 05, 2015 9:50 am

While rebuilding my 140 carb (zenith mod#161) and being very careful doing so, I lost the "friction choke lever spring" part #357 149 R1.
I had every thing laid out and taking my time and didn't realize that the small screw driver i was using had a magnet on the end, when I went to remove it from the magnet it shot out the shop door (windy) onto my drive which is now covered with pine needles! I looked and used a magnet on a string for over an hour and ...no luck.

Would any one know of a source for such a small part without having to pay for a major rebuild kit?
I put it back together and it runs great, but if I pull the choke out too far it catches in the closed position and would like to correct before winter plowing.
Thanks for any advice/help.
Bruce.

Bruce, Check with McDonaldCarb.com. They have lots of parts that aren't shown on the website, so I would call or email with a description and part #.

I don't believe it but I found that little sucker! After looking for it for over an hour and walking with a magnet on a rope looking like I was paning for gold and no luck, two days later while walking to the shop (I had it on my mind) looking at the ground and there it was amongst pine needles and leaves. It ended up about 20feet from where I had it, and I am too happy, not at the expense of a small spring but I wasn't wanting the hassle of the hunt :x
Thanks for the top Bob, I did send off an e-mail to McDonald.

Oh Happy Day!
