Cub manual lift work on an A??
Hi All. New here. Hopefully my question isn't too terrible. I found a manual lift and plow for sale. I'm fairly certain the plow and lift are from a a cub I believe it is a 193 plow. The fella selling them claims they were on a regular A, and didn't have a model number for them. I recently bought a regular A and am looking to have it ready for garden work and light farm work this spring. Just wondering if it is possible to mount the manual lift and plow on the A or if the seller has his tractors backwards. The plow is the one that mounts by flipping the draw bar around towards the front.

Re: Cub manual lift work on an A??
Plow for A has longer heavier beam than cub.---drawbar on both flip around to mount plow.---Manual cub lift may have bolt hole spacing a bit closer, so you need to test fit it and see where it lands.---I too am going to attempt a plow mount on my A, but I have a woods mower mount on tractor. I think there has to be 1 lever to control the front right side of drawbar and one for lifting! ---as far as a yes or no to your question,--I think it might could be done but keep in mind that it will require some mods! thanks; sonny

Re: Cub manual lift work on an A??
Thank you for the reply Sonny. Based on the pics he has posted for the items I can see the rear rocker and 1 lever for control so I'm guessing it is all the pieces to mount at the rear. I'd like to have the plow mounted but parts are hard to come by (or I just don't know what to look for yet). Part of me wonders if it would make more sense to buy a pull type plow and see if I can find the cultivators to mount on the tractor itself.

Re: Cub manual lift work on an A??
No. Most of the Cub plow parts are similar but too small for a Super A. An A (not Super) is an even worse fit. The A doesn't even have a drawbar designed to be reversed or to adjust heights in the field. Someone armed with enough persistence and small enough amounts of sense could make it work, but it will mostly just make others shake their heads. Maybe the seller actually has an A plow. You haven't posted enough information for anyone to tell, although mounting on a reversed drawbar indicates Cub or Super A.

Sorry I should have known to post pictures from the ad. I definitely have a regular A. I'm not certain of the year. I'd have to pull the serial number when I'm home. Hopefully I've attached photos correctly.

Re: Cub manual lift work on an A??
He has a Cub plow missing the depth control lever and associated pieces. The rest of the parts are the draft and depth control pieces for an A (not Super A) plow. Put is all together, you'll have nothing usable. (The Cub plow beam is way to short to connect to the A parts, have no way to lift the plow.)
Edit: Maybe he has the rest of the A plow somewhere, just doesn't have everything together.

Re: Cub manual lift work on an A??
Are the parts for the A worth me making the trip to go check on? Will they work for other attachments or only the plow? The plow for the A connected at the front axle correct? If I plan on using the tractor for light pto work as well would it be a better idea to find a pull type plow for it? I'm guessing a 2 bottom little genius would be a bit much for her?

10 miles probably, 1,000 miles probably not. I'd be checking to see if he had the rest of the A plow on another pallet somewhere. An A plow takes a fair amount of effort to install. A single bottom trailer plow would be a better match. The catch is finding one of them. You probably want to look for either and take whatever you find.

Re: Cub manual lift work on an A??
There is a single bottom trailer plow in the area as well. Provided it hasn't sold already. Thanks again for all your help. Much appreciated, and nice not to be just a lurker.
Thanks again!
Thanks again!
