Postby kellylas » Fri Dec 26, 2014 12:12 am

Would the corn plates have a CP then a part number? CP stands for corn plate?

Yes.

kellylas wrote:CP stands for corn plate?

No, a lot of the plates have that.
There are two ways to get enough Cubs. One is to continue to accumulate more and more. The other is to desire less.

Originally, Chattanooga Plow. Now it is just part of the part number.

Does anyone know how to find out. What the old plates will plant from the part number cast into them.

There are lists in the Owner's Manuals and Parts Catalogs for the planters. For some hoppers, there were more added over time. Since you started with a question about a CP plate, I assume you are asking abut the POAX hopper. There were not many plates for that hopper, say compared to the Richmond hopper. The list in the manual for the 170C and D planters covers the PAOX hopper. Check page 10. It is linked from the PDF Manuals on this page:

Thanks that's what I was looking for to help me find some plates, sure not many for that style bottom. Did IH ever make a rubber closing tire that would fit on the runner planter?

I don't believe they ever put a rubber press wheel on the front mounted Cub planters. They should have been available for the Fast-Hitch planters like the 184.

That planter was for the 140, built '52-'74. Dealers complained after it was discontinued so in '75 they licensed Hol-Mac to produce it and a 181 for the Cub.

EDIT: corrected start date.

did all the one row side mounted planters have the option of two small disk in front of the closing wheel? does anyone have the part number for the small little disk or know where I could find any new ones that small?
