A battery

Postby Fibber Mcgee » Wed Aug 06, 2014 4:29 pm

What size battery should I get for my A? Also, how many CCAs do i need? Right now it doesn't have a battery box but I plan on getting one.

The A engine is so small and easy to turn over it will start off a lawn mower battery.

Group 26 is about the closest equivalent to the OEM Group 1 6V battery. Might be a little tall for the battery box, though.

So if I want to have it fit in the battery box will I have to use a lawn mower battery? What size is the battery box?

I just replaced my 12v SA battery with a 26R. It's small and fit my battery with box.

There is some variation in Group 26 batteries from brand to brand. Years ago I found the "Champion" brand Group 26 from Kmart was shorter than most other brands, and fit in my Cub battery box with room to spare.

BTW the R indicates reversed terminals.
