Farmall Cub

A neighbor just bought a super, of when there are not many in this area. It has appears to be a factory or at least dealer installed auxiliary control valve that is installed between the pump lines and the control block. The valve appears to be leaking from the control piston. Is anyone familiar with this system?

If it Is the IH control valve, it is the same as the one used on the Super C (with different control handle). I've never been inside one of them. Seems like I read on YT that some Super C guys found some weirdness to fixing them, like maybe non-standard sized O-rings required. Otherwise, I don't think there is any particular problem eliminating the leaks. If the parts can't be found in a Super A parts catalog, try looking in the book for a 100 or 130.

If the valve contains non-standard O-rings, bring the valve and O-rings with you when you come up for MidMo's Cub fest. Local New Holland dealer will probably have them in stock.

According to the local IH dealer (Fleig's Equipment) that model valve uses a seal rather than an o-ring. He has the seal, gasket, and line o-rings laid out for me to pick up the next time I am over.

A question, the lines from the valve are capped off. should it have a bypass hose on them, or the control rod disconnected to keep someone from pulling the lever and dead ending the pump circuit?

Theoretically, if someone were to pull the lever right now, the relief valve in the TC would pop off and not allow the system to be deadheaded.

That was my thoughts to, but my theory is not always right figured I would ask those who may be familiar with that valve.

NEAT. I have never seen one in person, only in the parts books, and our part of the world was filled with Super A tractors.

Getting to the piston connections is a little unhandy, but otherwise it looks like a good setup. The valve apparently replaces the normal connection block, as it appears to be a single piece with the lines attaching to it. I will know, in a couple days. As soon as Ralph picks up the parts i will see about repairing it for him. I will help neighbors for free, but will NOT provide the parts also.

It uses a different hydraulic manifold than the standard setup as it attaches to the auxiliary valve on the front side. When you remove the valve from the Touch Control unit, you will find more than just the 2 holes you would expect for the manifold. I believe one of the passages goes to the pressure relief valve, but never looked into the details.

Can you post the part #s when you get them, I need to fix mine also and it looks as thought there are only two things needed 71248C1 and 356799R1, but I would like to know what your dealer gives you, also on my "C" it looks as though I could replace what is needed with the control vavle in place-- let me know what you run into

Will do Rexxon, but this one looks as if the piston will have to be removed to replace the seal. Figure all of that will be handier to do on the bench.

John, Got mine rebuilt, but ran into a problem with the top seal.
I took my time but still bent it a little so had to get another one, friend was looking at the new one and comparing it to the old one he said the new one looks a little bigger--- sure was there was a coating of something on the outside of the seal that made it not want to start correct-- even took the unit off , but once that shellac or whatever it was was off in went in fine but still tight but good.

Now I am sure they put that coating on there to seal the outside but it was impossible to get it started correct with it on there and I have let it run now for and hour or so and no leaks
