Re: Super a won't start
When I took the carb apart the gasket tore a little bit on the air side between the air hole and the Venturi. I had to put it back together like that. Would that keep it from at least hitting?

Thinking you will need to clean the entire fuel system including the carburetor.Jengland923 wrote:Will run all day on ether.
Possible. Suggest that after you get the fuel system cleaned, you install a new carburetor kit - at least the gaskets included in the kit.Jengland923 wrote:When I took the carb apart the gasket tore a little bit on the air side between the air hole and the Venturi. Re: Super a won't start
Picked up gasket today going to install tonight. There is plenty of vacuum at inlet of carb just doesn't seem to be getting gas mixed with air. I have tried all sorts of different things. I work on trucks for a living but this simple little tractor about to kick my butt. Lol

Remove the carburetor main jet or plug on the bottom of the fuel flow. Check for fuel flow through the carburetor.
Typically the carburetor main jet gets plugged up. Remove the main jet and blow it out.
If that doesn't work, dip the carburetor, then blow out all passages.

Need to identify the carburetor. There are at least 3 makes of carburetors and quite a number of models that could be installed on the tractor. Once carburetor is identified, locate a pictorial lay out of the carburetor. The pictorial will disclose the location of the jets, and various galleries.
The main jet is most likely located in front of the main jet adjusting screw and can be removed with a screwdriver.

Re: Super a won't start
Found the main jet in bottom of bowl was stopped up. I feel like an idiot. I guess that's why I work on diesels lol. I got it running and now the governer is hunting. At idle it will run fine. You can pull choke out to right before it gets rich enough to smoke and it will run at higher throttle. It done same thing with previous carb last year but after replacing carb last year it seemed to run ok no hunting. Which we dist operate it but a few hours in garden.

My SA was hunting after a carb rebuild and there is an adjusting bolt on the governor that I played with for a little while and now it works fine.

Same for me. Its a screw under the acorn nut below the governor. its tricky to get at because its below the governor behind the radiator.

Re: Super a won't start
Here you go:
The part you're looking to adjust is the screw (21) which you get to by taking the acorn nut (22) off. Adjust in it, but not too far. Do not play with it while the tractor is running. Screw it in a little, start the tractor, if the problem is fixed don't touch it anymore. If it isn't fixed, turn the tractor off and repeat.

Re: Super a won't start
Thanks. I will give this a try. Is it possible it could still be in the carb? I didn't mess with float or anything when I cleaned all of if last night
