Farmall Cub

Guys.....is there anyone (or a business/foundry) that makes this part for the Farmall Super A/100/130/140 cultivator (non-fast hitch)?

We have several spring pressure rods that are missing this part and need to find some or several. If I could find a pile of original ones that would be nice, but a reproduction would work too. It is alot like the eyebolt for the cub plow. And if I recall someone (Earl, If I recall correctly ?) was making those. You'd think you would see them pop up from time to time on eBay as "parts" but they don't and are usually part of the pressure rod assembly (which go for alot of $$). I would like to buy a bunch of rear pressure rod assemblies but the ones you find are on eBay and go for almost 1/2 or 1/3 as much as a Cultivator set will sell for.

That would be easy for Earl to make. You might want to send him a PM. I would expect he'd want an original to measure off of. I could have the art foundry out here cast them in stainless steel, but they'd probably be more expensive than having some machined.

Edit: What is the thickness and length of those? I'd start with some flat stock, notch out for the round shaft and round it with a grinder.

I'm not sure about exact dimensions but they are very close to the plow eyebolt (from memory). I have a nice pair of NOS ones back at the farm, but not going to be around them until the weekend. The round "pin" part fits into the hole on the rear rockshaft of the tractor, so it would be that size. We made a pair from some materials we had on hand and welded them up, but it was a lot of trouble/work for just that pair, when we could use alot more of them. Is stainless the only way the foundry would make them?

If you get the kind that has a lag bolt style end on it, it may not be threaded all the way to the pin. Don't know what dimensions you need for the shaft part. The screw and strap hinges come with the pintle (pin) up to 7/8" diameter on the internet.

Yes, he is, Dave. Boss Hog put me in contact with him last fall when I was looking for a SA or 140 without having to travel great distances. He had an unadvertised 140 in great shape and at a fair price. It wears my IH 1000 loader now.

McMaster carr sells plain unthreaded eyebolts without shoulders. I would just buy whatever size you need then drill the hole for the hairpin. here is the page http://www.mcmaster.com/#general-purpose-eyebolts/=p3a6ng

You will probably find that an eye bolt with a large enough shank will have a hole that is way too big.

Yes Jim, that seems to be the case. Thanks Denny and Cub Hut for the lead. You're all right about him too. I'll give Dean a call and see what all he has.

Yesterday I was in TSC and noticed the gate hinges. I didn't look too closely, but they looked closer to the right proportions than an eye bolt. Same problem with the threaded shanks, but it is another option to at least look at.
