I am a newbie to this site so if I am in the wrong spot I am apologize in advance. and I am looking to buy a tractor in the next 6 months. My mothers and fathers family has had tractors and farms up to 1000 acres growing up. That was then . My uncle still does it some but not much since he is up in age 65. I have paid to have my garden(.5-1.0) done in the past. Plus I have another plot of property about 12 acres (7 mow-able) that is done with a riding lawn mower JD 425 all wheel steer 60 inch deck.....it has taking a beating over the years I inherited the property and the mower needless to say. I am looking at a Super A or 100 farmall something small . My uncle has a little farmall cub that I use to make rows and its seems its all it wants....I live in the center of NC.35.2950° N, 79.7456° W my soil is mostly black topsoil/sand mixture where I am garden red clay is deeper down on north end of the property. So I need to know what I need what all attachments to garden minimal. I have 3pt scape blade, 4 ft bush needs new blade now that I acquired . What size tractor Super A or 100?
Thanks for your time
Jeremy

A Super A and a 100 are virtually the same tractor. Either one would satisfy your needs.

If you want to use the 3 point equipment you need get a 3000 ford or the like, The SA will not do much with 3 point equipment. First you would need an adapter, they only do a fair job at best then. SAs and 100s are cultivating tractors.

Re: Newbie need some help on size?
I will just be using it for gardening and maybe mowing if able to but mostly gardening with it. And what is a reasonable prices I have seen them from $900-$5000. I have been told to get one with cultivators, one bottom plow and a fast hitch.....that's all I will need. Not looking for a parade queen just a good rig doesn't have to be pretty just functional ...I can fix ugly....and fix it if it breaks. I love the 50s cars I own a 54 belair coupe I redone every nut and bolt. I have always said I was born in the wrong year.......

It really depends on what you are going to do most, if I could only have one tractor to do what you want and I think I am just about in the same type deal as you, I would find small three point tractor--- 240, 404, 424, 444,
I have 4 tractors a 140HC, a High and wide Cub, a 240 utility, and a 385.
If I could only have one it would be the 240 utility.
I have had it 25 or so years and its a handy little tractor, and very little $$$$ to buy it or spend on it over the years, I just keep gas in it and it has never let me down.

Fast hitch is handy, but only if you get all the implements you need with the tractor.
It's not that the implements are impossible to find, but they can be tough to find locally, at a reasonable price.
The 1-bottom bolt-on Super A plow is not that big of a deal to install. Takes about 30 minutes even if you're a novice.
