Air Cleaner on a Farmall A tractor

Postby Donstractor » Thu Jun 13, 2013 1:20 am

Still trying to start my Farmall A tractor and while cranking I am getting a small amount of oil coming out of the Air Cleaner pipe.
What would be causing this? I have replaced :
Plugs
Points
Condenser
New plug wires
Rotor
I have spark at the plugs and spark at the magneto coil wire. PLEASE HELP.

Might be a stuck valve. Easy to fix.

Thanks DanR for the reply. Next question....how does one unstick a valve?

Remove the valve cover and look for the one sticking. Look for a rocker arm that is to far away from the valve. Slide the rocker arm over and spray the valve stem and guide with a penetrate. I use Deep Creep. Let it set awhile and start tapping the valve with a brass hammer. It may take some time so repeat if necessary. When it's free start the engine and see if the valve is getting a good oil flow. Might have been a plugged oil port on the rocker arm. Good time to adjust all the valves.
