Re: IH-1000 loader hyd problems

ok My dad called and said he just hooked up the tractor hydraulics no loader system or bypass and the pump got hotter then when the loader was hooked up.
I am guessing that the extra fluid in the loader tank kept the fluid cooler. What on the tractor could be making the pump and oil get hot? Could the screen filter be getting plugged and causing it to get hot? At least I have a new place to start.
what causes it to get hot?
1) pump
2) lines I flussed them out.
3)touch control
4)fluid screen?

any other suggestions?

No idea. All you can do is tear it apart until you find the problem.

Hot means the high pressure side is being constricted or restricted, however you want to say it.

I thought you tried the other block and it was fine??? What changed?

Well I look back on it now and I thought it was ok but we also found out that the oil pan was full of hydraulic oil so the front hyd pump seal was gone and I am sure it was just pumping into the engine and didn't have time to build pressure and get hot? Just my thoughts on it now. The pump has been rebuilt and installed.

Ok we tore the battery out and removed theback of the touch control that is when I found the orfice you were talking about and saw what plug to remove to get to it. the orfice was plug with a piece of metal. We put it all back together and it seems to be running the hydraulics much longer and better but it seemed like it was starting to get hot right before I ran out of gas and had to go home lol! I wonder if it got hot from moving it up and down. It picked up me 240 lbs no problem and then my son and I maybe 320lbs total it only picked us up about 2 feet and would not lift any higher. then it started to act a little funny and then ran out of gas. Maybe it was getting hot again but not like before. when it shut down and we were lowering the bucket the fluid ran out of the vent. I am sure it is still trying to get all the air out of the system and oil expanded as it got hot. Should I check the orphice again to see if there was more crud in there?
thanks for the help we are making a lot of progress!

ok back to the loader, the tractor's HYD pump doesn't get hot now that we un-plugged the orphice. The problem we are having now is the tractor will not lift much. Is there some adjustments to get it to lift more weight? I am talking it will only lift 200-300 pounds maybe a few feet off the ground and quits lifting. Is the touch control the problem is could it be the spool for the loader?
any thoughts?

Hmm, I would think that if it can lift it some, it can lift it all the way because I'm pretty sure the mechanical advantage gets better the higher you go.

It may be running out of oil, sucking the TC dry and not pulling in the auxiliary oil from the loader frame due to an air bubble in the line. That would also explain why oil blew out of the vent on the loader frame.

In order for it to work you need to get the TC completely full to the brim and set up a siphon from the TC to the auxiliary reservoir in the loader frame.
