i was wondering IF a magneto could be rebuilt, if so, then where is my next question

Yes they can. Many of us do it. If the impulse springs are ok its a simple task. Replace the points, condenser and coil, making sure that you have the timing correct in the mag. What model mag is it?

Dont let that mag get away from you. They are pretty easy to fix. Make darn sure the gears are marked to time it back up before you take it apart. I tore one up to put points in and it had no marks at all. Timing was a trial and error deal with several errors. Other than that a rebuild is usually easy and not too costly. Coils are a little high, but if the rest is in good shape and all it needs the coil, points and condenser, the last one I fixed was about a hundred bucks. If the magnets are weak you will have to find someone who has the equipment to recharge them. Just my opinion, but I like mags better than distributors on all antique tractors, and especially on those with 6 volt systems. There is no loss of energy to the spark plugs when you are cranking it. Good enough for thousands of small aircraft flying overhead good enough for my old tractors
