Difference in Cub-22 and IH-22

I came across a sickle mower today, and being the 1st one I've ran across I'm not that familiar with them. I noticed in the manuals section that the Cub sickle mower and the Super A sickle mower were both "22 mowers". What are the differences and how can I easily ID mine between the 2 models? Some pictures are attached too.

Ok. I'll look again. I only looked at the Cub manual and noticed that some of the parts looked the same. Thanks Boss

All of the wood parts need replacing (as with most I'm sure). Are there good resources on how to make those parts? or is there a supplier for them?

The SA-140 mowers are much harder to find than the Cub models. Yours is missing several parts.

Good luck with your mower. Hope you get it restored, and working.
I have the exact same mower that I am trying to restore. Not sure how rare the are, but I have really not had much luck finding any pictures of a restored or original complete unit. Maybe someone who has one could post a few good pictures. I am not sure if I have all the parts for mine, and my pulley is broken.

Thanks for the quick link Eugene. I had no idea these were harder to find than the Cub mowers. I figured they were just as plentiful. Just looking at it, it looks complete minus the wooden parts. Guess I need to study the manual real good and then try to find the missing stuff!!

Brad, I might have an extra pulley as I saw one in the pile of stuff I got and saw one on one of the tractors. Not sure yet though what either of them fit if at all the 22 mower.

I don't know that they are super-plentiful here but I didn't think they were that hard to find. I've got two, I would happily sell one of them if someone wanted it! Not real pretty but it is all there...

If anyone needs pics of a complete mower I will take some.

They may be harder to find up north but not as hard to come by here. The thing is that they are still being used here makes them a little higher price wise

The offer of pictures would be great. I have some mystery on just how the brackets hook up on the rear of the mower. I am also not sure if the piece that holds the drive shaft tube on mine is home made.

I have been studying the online manual a little bit and think my mower is complete. These online manuals are really helpful. I cant begin to say how much of a privilege it is to have this available.

Al.. The pulley offer would be great, but I may have created some confusion. The pulley I need is the one on the end of the drive shaft, visible in your # 2 photo. Lucky for me the other one is still on the tractor the mower came with.
If you have that one I would be interested.

The actual mowing "head" and sickle bar are identical between the cub and A versions. Pitman assembly is also identical.

The differences are is the mule drive.
On a Cub the rear pulley will be larger than the PTO pulley. On an A version they will be about the same, though the PTO pulley may be slightly larger if memory serves.
The nut on the front flywheel will be a standard thread on the A version. It will be reverse thread on the Cub.
The framework for the mule drive on an A version is much larger, and has cross-bracing in the front.
The rear hanger for the A version will angle downward. It is more horizontal on a Cub.

AL,

Since I'm looking for a complete unit for someone, pictures of a complete 22 mower would be great.
