Different motor?
Just a Question for the experts on this form. I know it is not unusual to find a donor motor in older tractors and there are some issues with my NTM "A". What was the letter code for the 1939 motor block? Just trying to find out if my tractor has a "donor" motor be fore I order parts. Some things just are not adding up.

Re: Different motor?
1939 was the letter "I". Whenever there is a difference, use the stamped engine number to ID correct replacement parts.

Thanks so much for the info. I hate to by parts that don't fit and have to reorder.

Re: Different motor?
Did they use date codes in 1939? A friend of mine has a 1939 B, and I can't for the life of me find any date codes on any castings.

Matt -- According to the books I've read, they started using the letter codes in 1931. I can't account for your friend's B. Roger

Re: Different motor?
I was able to look yesterday and I found the letter I after the number so I am assuming it is the original casting. Thanks for the help and putting my fears to rest
