interesting A

Postby Former Member » Tue Feb 05, 2013 6:23 pm

Walt and I went and looked at an interesting A the other day. It is For Sale at the local IH dealership. Looks like an industrial? Planters and fertilizers have cables running everywhere, but most puzzling is the gear on the back side of the steering box, on the pin that holds the axle on.

Here are some pictures.

Looks like a heavy duty front axle, and someone has cut off the support going to the bellhousing. Also that looks like a Super A engine--they left the hyd. pump on.

Looks like the same axle my super A has.---also a drive sprocket for about a #45 or 55 steel chain is on my left drive stub. the cultivator/fert . stuff was taken off mine just before I bought it.---I thought this drove the hopper or planter but not real sure what it drove.----Dont know how hard it is to take off, but need to do so as it will wrap up with weeds/plants etc if you go down tall stuff with it! thanks; sonny
