Bigger tires for an "A"

I may have found a decent set of tires and they are beefier than what my "A" has on it now.
There are 9.5 x 24 mounted on my "A" now. These are 11.2-24 off a 140.
I'm thinking I should be able to wrestle these onto the "A" rims and then use the 9.5 x 24 set on the cub replacing the mismatched 8.5 set it has now. What do you guys think?

I have 9.5's on my cub and I like them a lot. I don't see why the 11.2's wouldn't go on an A.

I have 11.2's on my A and they look great! Of course, I'm just finishing up his restoration, so they haven't actually done any WORK, but he runs and they roll along fine! I had a shop put them on for $10, so I don't really know how hard it was.

I have 12.4's on 9 inch rims my SA and they work fine. I took them off no problem, but had a shop put the new 12.4's on. I have a couple friends with A's and they have 11.2's. I have a set of 9.5's going on my 154 after I restore it.

11.2-24's are real common on Super A's here. A lot of plain A's had 9.5's or even 8.3's. 140's tended to come more with 12.4's, The tractor you have gotten parts from me has 11.2's on what I think were rims for 9.5's. It pulls the sidewalls of the tire in just a tad but they appear to have worked fine for a long time....

I know what the lo-boy cubs look like with the 9.5's, really good!
My lo-boy has a McCreary and a Goodyear both are 8.5 but have a different looking tread. Its always bugged me.
The A has a matched set of 9.5's which would look good on the A but would look great on the lo-boy.
Anyone have a pic with 11.2-24's mounted on an A?
I'm not sure if I can strike a deal on the ones I've found or if they are a matched set yet. If it doesn't work out there will be others.
Maybe 12.4's!
Mike.

Here are a couple photos of mine:
In the top photo the old tire IS mounted on the tractor and in the bottom photo the new tire is mounted on the tractor, so you can compare the height with regard to the fender.

Ok that definitely works for me!
Parking my A next to the cub has a similar height difference.
I knew the tire would be a almost 2" wider, I didn't expect it to be taller. I do like the look.
Thanks for posting the pictures.

My Cub came with 9.5's as original equipment. 11's and 12's are apropriate on the A- 100 series. Somewhere on this site is/was a pix of 11.2's on a Cub.

Those tires look great! They also look like they would float over soft soil.
Are they mounted on wider rims or are they original width rims?
Mike.

I just put brand new ones on Friday (12.4 x 24) and the rim measured 9 inches. They really should be mounted on 11 inch rims, but those are the rims it came with. The guy I bought it from wanted the turf tires off it, and thats what he had to replace them. That tractor has done nothing but mow grass at a grade school since 1953.

Hi Mike the 11.2 will work fine. But I prefer 12.4's here on the clay. The 14.9's I have on the 130 at the farm are great but really raised the ground speed plus I had to get blank 15" rims and buy and weld bolt loops on it. But with all the side wall its like riding a fourwheeler as it gives it a soft cushy ride.
The ind 130 has 11.2's on it and the std 130 has 14.9's on it.
But when it comes to traction the 14.9's shine.

Thanks Dave
I didn't think through welding the bolt lugs on when I had my brother do it. I can't turn the rims in or it will hit the finals and with them out like that its almost 7' wide across the back.
