Thinking about a Farmall Super A(paint color?)

Postby BigBill » Sun Sep 27, 2009 3:47 pm

Ok the A series goes from the plain A to the Super A to the farmall 100, farmall 130 to the international 140. I guess the 140 is the last of the "A' version farmall's. Is it a good machine and equal to the super A?

Sorry for the dumb questions but i'm not sure about the farmall's.

This international 140 is painted yellow. It seems they came both ways depending on the year of the 140. Is that correct?
If i repaint it yellow will that be ok because its not red?

I think a 140 is a better tractor, it has a few improvements, just my 2 cents :?

Whats a good running but poor looking international 140 worth? It needs a total restoration plus tires.

Then with my fcub + the 140 all i need to round out my collection is an "H" and an "M".

bigger engine 123cubic inch instead of 116 which is fitted with a water pump and larger radiator, ther was changes to the sheet metal to fit but looked the same as the super A. This is the same engine as the latter models (100, 130, etc) ther was changes to some of the rear castings to make them stronger
They were a change over model the mechicals of the 100 models and the good looks of thje A models only made in 1954 and not in large numbers

I really like the looks of the super A but the international farmall 140 is the last of the A sized tractors its the final upgrade too i guess it has the square nose. I'm thinking about grabbing it anyway even though i'm not ready to work on it yet. And i'll get the older super A anyway too. I really want the larger tractor with the bigger mower so i can mow my two acres of grass even faster than my int154 with the 60" deck. Less passes means more rest time.

most were painted red, the state tractors were painted yellow, the yellow ones bring less as a rule
