Farmall A valve lash (cold)

Postby Dan W. » Thu Aug 13, 2009 7:53 am

The specs for my Farmall A call for the valve lash to be .014 hot. Right now I can only set it cold. What gap should I set when cold so that it will be near .014 when the engine is hot? Thanks.

Metal expands. So you can do any number of things - your choice. Set the tappet clearance at .015 or .016. Or you could set the gap at .014. Really doesn't make any difference since you will be resetting the tappet clearance after the engine warms up.
I have an excuse. CRS.
