Well, over the weekend I finally pulled the head off of my siezed Super A. No good news to be found there.

All 4 cylinders- rusted solid
Block- Cracked nearly stem to stern

Head appeared good with no visable cracks or damage. All valves are free.

I knew when I bought it the previous owner had been trying to fix a water leak when he took ill and had to park it. That was about 10 years ago. My guess is that he filled it with straight water in working on the leak and parked it like that. The freeze took it's toll.

So, I am on the hunt for a block. I found one locally, but it is off an A, not a Super A. I am not 100% certain it will work due to the hyd pump. If it will, what's it worth? I figure I will have to sleeve it at any rate and will take that into account. I am thinking $100 at most for it. Seem fair?

So, if anyone knows of a good block or running but otherwise rough A/Super A in WV,KY,OH,PA or so let me know.

The block from a C or super C will work fine, both were equipt with hydraulics. As a plus they both will accept a water pump.

Since I am feeling pretty confident that I will find a block or at least have a large number of salvageable parts, I setup my cleaning tank today and started cooking:

I had seen that earlier today. But, thanks for pointing it out.

I sent him a note about shipping. Although, I bet it would be cheaper to pay him $10 to clean it off rather than ship the grease and grime. :)
